Why is the Nissan Altima the ‘Best Car for Teens $30k to $35k?

Owning your first vehicle is something that every young person in America looks forward to. Obviously, teens lucky enough to have parents with a significant amount of disposable income in the bank hope for something which will really impress their friends, like a Nissan Altima.

It seems that the US News & World Report agrees with this idea, as the Nissan Altima has been named one of the best cars for teens, and the number one choice in the $30,000 to $35,000 price range.

US News & World Report Has Selected Nissan’s Top Selling Sedan As The Perfect Choice for Teens

Each year, the US News & World Report – a media company that has been around since 1948 and each year ranks the year’s best colleges, universities, cars and even hospitals and has over 40 million visitors to its website – chooses eight vehicles as the most impressive for teenage drivers. The two most important considerations when it comes to their choices are active safety features that will enable teens to remain safe on the road, and other features that will help teenage drivers develop their driving skills.

The US News & World Report gathers data about all models of vehicles released in a single calendar year for analysis. The data elements include crash test scores and reliability ratings, and the number of advanced driver assistance features. The views of leading motor vehicle critics are also taken into consideration.

The 2021 version of the Nissan Altima has all of the following intelligent mobility features via Nissan’s unique ProPILOT Assist and Safety Shield 360 technologies:

  • Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection
  • Rear Automatic Braking
  • Lane Departure Warning
  • Blind Spot Warning (radar based)
  • Rear Cross Traffic
  • High Beam Assist

This advanced set of safety features meant high scores for the Nissan Altima in the US News & World Report’s findings.

“The winners of the Best Cars for Teens awards all have active safety features that can help teens safely develop their driving skills while lowering the risk that they’ll be involved in a collision,” said Jamie Page Deaton, US News Best Cars’ executive editor. “The winners also have strong crash test ratings, so if a collision occurs, there’s a better chance of occupants being protected.”

As well as being available in the standard FWD configuration, the 2021 version of the Nissan Altima is available with the Intelligent All-Wheel Drive feature. This uses an advanced torque strategy that features split control according to the driving conditions. This can range from a 0/100 front configuration to 50/50 front to rear.

The 2021 Nissan Altima is also available in five grade levels – S, SV, SR, SR VC-Turbo and SL – and two powertrain choices. The Altima has already won a host of awards, including the IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) Top Safety Pick+ for 2021.
